Woohoo!!! What a fabulous 24 hours it has been here in the Chicago Suburbs. While Luke and Megan are home from school because of 2 inches of ICE (that Luke was going to go skate on outside this afternoon) in Indianapolis, we got hit with the storm of the century last night here in Chicagoland. AKA a huge blizzard.

The last blizzard we had here in Chicagoland was back in 1999. My mommy was a senior in high school. It hit the first 3 days of January. Mommy, Uncle Mikey, Grandma, Grandma Ba, and Grandpa Ba had taken the annual ride to Valparaiso for the New Years Holiday weekend with the family. The storm was suppose to be so bad that they had to leave early in order to get home before the snow hit. It was a big one. My Grandpa was working long hours for the city, so Mommy and Uncle Mikey had to shovel all of Grandpa's side jobs for him. Lots to keep up with. Mommy remembers that storm fondly...for it was the last time she saw her Grandpa before he went to heaven. That Saturday after all of the storm had past, she walked to mass in the morning. After mass, she walked to Grandma Ba's to shovel for them and spend the day with her grandparents. Grandma Ba said the snow could wait, and that Mommy should just stay inside with them. What a small blessing that was. Mommy just sat and watched the snow fall with her grandparents all day. She left late in the afternoon to walk back home and fondly remembers the last hug and kiss with her Grandpa as he smiled at her as he closed the door behind her, sending her on her way back home. Days later, he passed away of a sudden heart attack. Rest in peace, Grandpa Ba. Someday I'll see you in heaven.

THIS blizzard was full of much higher winds that what Mommy remembered last time! You couldn't even walk outside! The snow was making this white wall that we could hardly see our neighbors across the way! The snow fell for 24 hour straight but the wind was really killer. It was whipping against the windows all of last night. This afternoon the winds finally died down and we were able to go outside and use my new SLED from Uncle Mikey and Tonya. Lots of the college kids were helping each other pull out of their parking spots. They were shoveling the snow into anything they could find..recycling baskets, garbage cans, etc. Some of them were sledding down the bigger hills around campus, but I stuck to the small one right outside our building. I am not a fan of the cold snow on my skin. I was bundled from head to toe and stayed in the sled (except for when I fell out once on a sharp turn...thanks Mommy!)

This one will go down in history~FUN!
